Hello and welcome to the 10th edition of Flashback Friday!!!!
Thanks for joining us...let's get started, shall we?!!!!!
First thing, I wanted to introduce you to our Flashback Friday 10.0 Sponsor:
Jane has been so very kind to sling out:
and some of her signature buttons!
Yahoooooo for Jane...thanks sooo very much for sponsoring Flashback Friday 10.0!!!!!!
Okay, now we get to meet our Guest Designer!
"Hi, everybody! I’m Emily Keaton, and I am just thrilled to be Amy’s latest Guest Designer pick for Flashback Friday 10.0!!
My love affair with making things started when I was 5 years old. I distinctly remember attempting to make a pair of bedroom slippers for my mom for Christmas using paper and a bar of soap (somehow I got it into my head that wet soap would make good glue. I was wrong.). Ever since, I’ve been attempting to make all kinds of useful things, primarily from fabric and paper, with varying degrees of success. I was first introduced to rubberstamping and the art of cardmaking in 2004, but my paper creativity really got a boost when I first discovered the stamping community of Splitcoaststampers in 2009. My blog, My Little Slice of Bliss, followed in July 2010. I currently serve on the design teams for Mark’s Finest Papers and the Stampin’ B’s challenge blog.
Basically, I'm a simple gal. When I started off down the road on my extended papercrafting journey, I made a conscious decision to avoid investing in expensive tools and equipment. There just isn't money in our budget or space in our house for extras like these. So, no dies, embossing folders, die cutting machines, or Copics for me. You won’t see expensive embellishments on my projects and you’ll rarely see the latest papers. I do have a collection of punches and rely on colored pencils or watercolor painting for coloring images, but otherwise I look for creative design solutions, make do with what I've got, or do without. I like raiding my sewing supplies (some of which are vintage supplies I inherited from my grandmother’s sewing basket) for embellishments, repurposing “stuff” that drifts into my life, and keeping my eyes open for dollar store bargains that I can use on paper projects.
I share my papercrafting space with my best friend and husband of 17 years and our two children, ages 12 and 8. The highlight of our days is eating supper together every night, giving us a chance to catch up on our days and talk about how the world works. We enjoy having family movie nights, playing board and card games, geocaching, and camping in the summer. I have a degree in mathematics and work as a freelance writer and editor for college math textbooks and ancillaries. I love the freedom and flexibility that working “for myself” gives me to manage our family life and maintain my sanity with creative pursuits.
Thanks so much for having me here, Amy!!"

I'm so happy to have Emily aboard...she isn't just creative, she's a down to earth kind of gal! Thanks so much for joining me for Flashback Friday 10.0 Emily!!!!
The Flashback Friday 10.0 challenge ala Emily:
**first project with stitching on it (real or faux)**
Here's Emily's project from June 2009 which incorporates both real and faux stitching:
Isn't it simply fabulous? The colors, the scallops, the folds...wow!
Well, I searched my bloggie archives for my first stitched archives and came up with this:
Okay, I lightened up the pic...I had too...I did a bunch of pics with my cards at that particular angle..sigh.
What's interesting to note is that this card that I posted on my blog in Feb 2008 started my love of my sewing machine...specifically my Janome Sew Mini.
Let's analyze my card, shall we:
colors
bloom
bling
stitching
yup, yup, yup & yup...it still screams my name, whaddya think?
I cannot wait to see what you link up!!!!
Flashback Friday 10.0 runs through Friday, April 29th @ 11:59 pm PST.

LOVED reading about you Emily! And what a FAB choice for the challenge!
I really love the style of this card. Can you tell me where I could see a video to learn how to do it?
Hmmmmmmmmmm.... I am thinking I like this challenge!! And loving both your projects! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
What a lovely post, Amy!!! Thanks so much for having me as guest designer for Flashback Friday 10.0. I am SO thrilled to be here. And I can't wait to see everyone's first sewing project!!! Thanks a million. :D
By the way, Amy, I *love* your first sewing project!! I do believe that I spy some fantastic BasicGrey paper, and that zig-zag stitch around the background panel is timeless. What a fantastic first foray into stitching on paper projects!
YAY! YAY! YAY! I finally get to play!!!
Congrats on being Guest DT Emily - WOO HOO! Thanks for telling me about Amy's cool challenge - how fun to revisit your earlier creations!
Oh and Amy, I cannot believe THAT is your FIRST stitched card!! It is AMAZING!! :-O
this is pretty cool.. having to go back down memory lane and see what we did and when ... and to see others works as well... thanks

so fun to read about you Emily :)
both of your "firsts" are awesome!!! :)
off to hunt now! lol
I have a tip for people who play along and use blogger. This might not be new, but it's new to me:
Type the url of your blog into your browser, followed by "/view" For example, mine is http://ourchangeofart.blogspot.com/view/
If you choose "snapshot" you can see all of the photos that are uploaded on your blog in one page, so you can quickly scan through to find your first project with stitching.
You can also go to your Picasa web album that google automatically makes for you when you upload to blogger.
It's easier and quicker than going through all of your old posts!
Jeepers, great tip Jennifer Rzasa!! That's new to me, even though I don't use blogger.
This is a fantastico challenge, love it!! Shall go find my first sewing project; that is, if I ever posted the hideous mess!!
What a great post. Really enjoyed reading all about Emily. Thanks for this fun challenge...it has been great to see some of my older projects.
Fun projects ladies! I have never even tried that type of fold.
This one really made me LOL. I love to include stitching on my cards, but my start was a little rocky :>)
